BEIRUT, Aug 24 2014 (IPS) – In a country where civil liberties stay the prerogative of this strong and wealthy, the Lebanese gay scene will be treaded thoroughly.
The previous arrest of 27 members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) neighborhood suggests that those not very fortunate – those belonging to the more susceptible tranches of community – will always be prone to experiencing the darker area of Lebanon.
On August 9, a raid directed Hamam Agha, a popular general public bathtub within the hipster Hamra room inside the funds Beirut. Of the 27 guys detained, “there remain 14 non-Lebanese in detention, despite the fact that the assess has governed they should be released,” claims Ahmad Saleh, an activist from Helem, a Beirut-based NGO, advocating LGBT liberties at parliamentary stage.
